Bước 1: Phân tích để bài (Decide on your opinion)

Bước này giúp bạn xác định xem đây có phải là đề bài của opinion essay hay không, nhằm tránh viết sai yêu cầu đề bài. Cách nhận biết đề bài opinion essay đã được trình bày bên trên, bạn hãy ghi nhớ và thực hiện đúng nhé.

Bước 2: Tìm ý tưởng và lập dàn bài (Generate ideas + Vocabulary)

Liệt kê những ý tưởng và support ideas, examples mà bạn cảm thấy chính xác và phù hợp với quan điểm của mình.

Bạn cần có cho mình một ngân hàng từ vựng cho mỗi chủ đề liên quan để có thể thực hiện bài viết một cách thuận lợi nhất.

Hãy liệt kê những từ vựng bạn cho là đắt giá và liên quan tới chủ để ra nháp để khi viết bài bạn có thể sử dụng chúng dễ dàng, cả những từ đồng nghĩa, từ để nối, cách liên kết câu.

Việc liệt kê ra giấy nháp là rất cần thiết để khi nhìn lại bạn biết chắc chắn mình cần dùng phần nào ngay lập tức, tuy nhiên điều này không có nghĩa là bạn phải liệt kê chúng một cách chỉn chu và đầy đủ bởi như vậy sẽ khiến bạn mất thời gian vào phần không được cho điểm, đó chỉ cần là các gạch ý hoặc ký hiệu, viết tắt mà bạn đã nằm lòng và sử dụng thuận lợi.

Bước 3: Tiến hành viết nội dung chính (Organize your outline)

Dựa trên dàn bài đã lập sẵn, bạn sẽ lần lượt hoàn thành các nội dung trong từng phần của essay. Ghi nhớ rằng bạn cần điếu chiếu nội dung vừa viết với dàn bài để đảm bảo bạn không viết sót ý tưởng nào.

Bước 4: Hoàn chỉnh bài essay (Writing your essay)

Sau khi hoàn thành các bước chuẩn bị, hãy bắt tay vào hoàn thành bài Writing Task 2 của bạn thôi.

Trong quá trình viết bài, mỗi khi sang một paragraph mới hãy nhớ dành 20-30 giây nhìn lại outline của bạn để biết chắc chắn mình cần phải viết gì trong đoạn tiếp theo và keep track được bài làm của mình trong khoảng thời gian làm bài bạn nhé.

Trong khi viết, hãy đặc biệt chú ý đến:

Thì – thông thường bạn nên sử dụng thì hiện tại trong loại bài luận này.

Các từ liên kết – sử dụng đúng các dạng từ liên kết để bài viết của bạn mạch lạc và rõ ràng: đưa ra lý do (one reason for … is / many people believe that… / since… / due to…), thể hiện quan điểm của mình (to my mind… / I am convinced that… / from my point of view…), bổ sung thêm thông tin (first of all…/ secondly… / what is more, …/ finally… ), etc.

There is an argument that exploring space is a waste of money and that there are more urgent needs to be addressed on earth, such as reducing poverty and preventing environmental destruction. However, I completely disagree with this opinion for two reasons.

First of all, many of the technologies we take for granted today were originated thanks to space research. Take satellite technology, for example, which we depend on for broadcasting and weather forecasting. Without satellites, we would not be able to follow global events as they happen, nor give populations any warning of approaching storms.

Space research has also led to the development of new lightweight materials that offer us heat protection and enable food preservation. Therefore, the challenge of sending human beings into space has often driven the development of new technologies that benefit our everyday lives.

Second, we cannot foresee the distant future, so we ought to develop the capability to escape from the earth. Gradually, we are learning how humans can survive for long periods in space and even travel to other planets in the future. If space exploration is halted, this valuable knowledge will never be acquired. It is true that environmental destruction is also a serious issue, but it is also true that we remain dependent on our environment if we never accept the challenge of exploring other worlds.

In conclusion, while we undoubtedly face serious problems on our own planet, it is imperative that we continue to explore space. This will promote further technological advances as well as provide a possible means of escape should earth become uninhabitable in future. Ideally, all nations should cooperate in the advancement of space research.

Some people believe that violence on television and in computer games has a damaging effect on the society. Others deny that these factors have any significant influence on people’s behaviour. What is your opinion?

These days, the amount of violence in media is growing. While some people argue that this trend will undoubtedly lead humans to dangerous future, others claim that it has no damaging effect on the society. I believe that in most cases media violence doesn’t affect people’s behavior.

Firstly, I think that people act from their motives, regardless what they see on the television. That is to say, if someone intends to do harm to somebody, that is not because of watching TV or playing computer games, but due to that person’s character and education. Although it is generally considered that violent media accustoms viewers to cruelty, I doubt this opinion. In my view, reasonable and intelligent people treat others humanely irrespective of what they see or hear in fictional stories.

Moreover, video games and television may even reduce social violence by providing a safe outlet for aggressiveness. In other words, truculent people may fight in virtual reality instead of evincing their combative spirit in real world. This may not only help those people, but also reduce the level of social violence in long-term perspective.

Finally, despite many claims and assumptions about negative effects of television and computer games I have never seen any proven connection between violent media and illegal activities in social life.

Taking everything into consideration, I would say that violence in contemporary media has no substantial influence on people’s behavior. Television and computers are not the main factors that shape personal character, and they can even be useful in reducing the level of violence.

People have different views about the funding of creative artists. While some people disagree with the idea of government support for artists, I believe that money for art projects should come from both governments and othersources. Some art projects definitely require help from the state.

In the UK, there are many works of art in public spaces, such as streets or squares in city cent
res. In Liverpool, for example, there are several new statues and sculptures in the docks area of the city, which has been redeveloped recently. These artworks represent culture, heritage and history. They serve to educate people about the city, and act as landmarks or talking points for visitors and tourists.

Governments and local councils should pay creative artists to produce this kind of art, because without their funding our cities would be much less interesting and attractive.
On the other hand, I can understand the arguments against government funding for
art. The main reason for this view is that governments have more important
concerns.

For example, state budgets need to be spent on education, healthcare, infrastructure and security, among other areas. These public services are vital for a country to function properly, whereas the work of creative artists, even in public places, is a luxury. Another reason for this opinion is that artists do a job like any other professional, and they should therefore earn their own money by selling their work.

In conclusion, there are good reasons why artists should rely on alternative sources
of financial support, but in my opinion government help is sometimes necessary.

Several languages are in danger of extinction because they are spoken by very small numbers of people. Some people say that governments should spend public money on saving these languages, while others believe that would be a waste of money. What is your opinion?

It is true that some minority languages may disappear in the near future. Although it can be argued that governments could save money by allowing this to happen, I believe that these languages should be protected and preserved.

There are several reasons why saving minority languages could be seen as a waste of money. Firstly, if a language is only spoken by a small number of people, expensive education programmes will be needed to make sure that more people learn it, and the state will have to pay for facilities, teachers and marketing. This money might be better spent on other public services.

Secondly, it would be much cheaper and more efficient for countries to have just one language. Governments could cut all kinds of costs related to communicating with each minority group.

Despite the above arguments, I believe that governments should try to preserve languages that are less widely spoken. A language is much more than simply a means of communication; it has a vital connection with the cultural identity of the people who speak it.

If a language disappears, a whole way of life will disappear with it, and we will lose the rich cultural diversity that makes societies more interesting. By spending money to protect minority languages, governments can also preserve traditions, customs and behaviours that are part of a country’s history.

In conclusion, it may save money in the short term if we allow minority languages to disappear, but in the long term this would have an extremely negative impact on our cultural heritage.
